Scoliosis Treatment Near Me

SCOLIOSIS

The purpose of the Schroth method is to create spinal balance and stability. Through deflexion, de-rotation, and elongation of the spine and rib cage, the body is able to return to a more neutral position. The Schroth Method takes a 3D approach to scoliosis management by addressing the spine in all three anatomical planes – sagittal, frontal, and transverse.

The primary objective for patients treated with the Schroth Method is:

Improved body mechanics and spinal stabilization to prevent further curve progression. For juveniles and adolescents, we strive for curve reduction, while adult treatment adds an additional focus on pain management. Results vary by patient.

Schroth exercises target the core and trunk through the positioning of the entire body, to create a stable, corrected posture. While in the newly-formed and corrected posture, Schroth patients learn to strengthen their spinal musculature via the proprietary component of the Schroth method – corrective rotational breathing – also called rotational angular breathing (RAB).

Becoming a Patient:

If you or your child has Scoliosis, we are here to help. To ensure the best possible treatment, we require full imaging to be provided prior to or at your first visit.

- Imaging Requirements for Initial Consultation: all images taken by your doctor are requested, but at a minimum, a recent scoliosis x-ray (PA Scoliosis Standing X-ray), which shows the full spine from back to front is required.

- Additional Requirements for Kyphosis & Post-Surgical Patients: in addition to the PA Scoliosis Standing X-ray, Dr. Abate requires a lateral (side) image for Kyphosis and Post-Surgical Patients.

FAQs:

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

This program is offered as a six session program only. I have found that clients who commit to six sessions become independent and have the best outcomes.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Athletic clothing that provides access to your back and spine.
Females: please wear a sports bra or bathing suit top, and athletic bottoms.
Males: please wear a shirt that is easy to remove, and athletic bottoms.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN BRACING?

Research has shown that the Schroth Method in combination with wearing a hard brace is most effective in halting the progression or decreasing the curve. I highly recommend the Cheneau-Gensingen Brace. For additional information please visit.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

I am an out of network provider for all insurances other than Medicare. I provide a super bill upon request to be submitted by the client to their insurance for possible reimbursement.
